“Among these hills, even the silence is green”

ROERO – Istanti di poesia – Mauro Alfonso

The Roero (composed by 23 municipalities) is a region located in the esatern part of the Cuneo province and its name comes from the noble “Roero” family that has reigned for years in these places.

Geographically located on the hydrographic left side of the river Tanaro, while on the right side we can find the Langhe region.

The particularity of this territory is its ground, predominantly sandy, that witness the presence of the sea in the past. Maritime origin is also evidenced by the presence of numerous shells and fossils, and by the stratification of the soil, well visible in some areas.
In this type of soil the vines have found the ideal conditions for their development and for their excellent organoleptic characteristics.
The vast production of fruits and vegetables also benefits from this soil feature, that allows to produce every year high quality products with less use of pesticides.
